Dear friends, clients, neighbors and other concerned parties,
I am providing this information as my forum to dispel the rumors and propaganda surrounding the tragic events which occurred Dec 7 & 8, 2008 at my house at 2100 S. Arlington Ridge Road. On that morning I was robbed, abducted, tortured, and was in immediate mortal danger when I used deadly force to stop a Navy SEAL who was trying to murder me.
Because of my respect for the legal process, I am not going to release any details at this time, sensationalizing this tragedy, or that do not explicitly counter public information. The content provided by this website is intended to correct publicly available information that has been inaccurately reported and remains a false account of that night's events.
There are five main reasons I am providing this information.
- First, I am innocent. My conscience is clean and I have nothing to hide. From the first moment I called 911 until today, I have fully cooperated with and supported the investigation, the results of which support my innocence. The charges against me have already been dropped and I know that anyone who learns the entire story will also clearly see that this was self defense. There is no evidence otherwise because that is what happened.
- Second, I have a very good reputation, which I value. Everyone who actually knows me will validate this. The longer incorrect and misleading information is out there, the more likely it will be accepted as fact. Perception does indeed become reality. Also, competitors in my business niche and the media have a vested interest in sensationalizing this for their own gain and to market their stories. It is really not that exciting – it was just a horrible robbery gone too far and this tragedy should not be sensationalized. I appreciate those who have stopped blogging about this on my behalf. - Third, there were many published media reports that reflected erroneous information. I feel obligated to correct the innuendo and speculation with the facts. Apparently, the original incorrect news release has simply been cut and pasted through several websites with no fact checking, interviews, or additional evidence. The reason I can verify that this information has been erroneously reported is because I consummated an agreement with the Arlington County Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney that precludes either of the involved prosecutors, Jay Burkholder or Lisa Bergman, from releasing ANY details of this case. This agreement also encompasses the evidence and investigation from the Detectives Gregory Linder and Darien Cupka. So, unless the information is released from me, either via my counsel or on this website, it has not been verified. I do not expect to release any additional details of this case, even the exculpatory evidence, because I do not believe this will help anyone. This occurrence was a tragedy, nothing more. I know what happened that night, and so do the prosecutors, detectives, and God. Once Mr. Hicks had determined he was going to murder me, and began taking the necessary steps to do so and cover his actions, those without a vested interest in the case agree that there were no other options I could take to preserve my life when he finally attempted to do so.

| Donaldson and Hicks knew each other. | FALSE. Donaldson had never met or heard of 'Miss X' or Hicks before that evening. |
| There was an attempt by Donaldson to 'clean up' the scene after the shooting. | FALSE. Donaldson called 911 within seconds of the event. |
| Donaldson called his lawyer before 911. | FALSE. See above. Phone records and evidence prove this. Donaldson did not make contact with any lawyers until he was released from the hospital and transferred to Arlington County Detention Facility. |
| Donaldson could have left. | FALSE. Donaldson attempted to leave the house several times. It was only after Hicks was incapacitated that Donaldson was finally able to call 911.

| Donaldson was not injured. | FALSE. Donaldson suffered severe injuries that kept him hospitalized for a week. These injuries included damage requiring stitches in his face, a broken scapula, torn jaw muscles, cracked ribs, bruised kidneys and "hypoinfaltion lungs with bibasilar compression atelactasis" that were all a results of Hick's unprovoked assault. Donaldson was also knocked out for an unknown period of time during the attacks. He still struggles with medical issues from these assaults. |
| There are hundreds of additional facts that are relevant to Donaldson's innocence. However, this is not the appropriate forum and will not be the method to release them. The above listed items were promoted on websites as "factual" and are only being corrected here because they are still available on the web and archives. |
- Fourth, I want to apologize to all the innocent people who were not involved in this tragic situation but were hurt. This includes *** (she knows who she is) Mr. Sergio Micheli and family, my business partners, and the family and friends of both myself and Matthew Hicks. I cannot and will not apologize to Hicks directly as it was entirely his actions, his unstoppable, irrational deadly violence, and his actual immediate attempt to kill me, that resulted in his death that morning. My nightmare was not over until I was able to end the direct, immediate threat to my life with self defense. Nothing I said, did, or pleaded had any effort on Mr. Hicks during the hours I was tortured in my own home. To the contrary, Hicks continued his attempts to disarm and kill me even after I had fired several shots and I was leaving my house -- literally at my front door.
- Fifth, I lost most of my business clients because of the time wasted in the Arlington County Detention Facility. I want to thank those who have honored and trusted me enough to stay with my company during this very difficult time.
